Tessa Healy SLA email
Back to Top | Tessa Healy is so excited to be joining the SLA family this year! After spending a year as a substitute teacher at SLA, she is eager to guide her students through seventh grade Language Arts this year. Language Arts has always been Tessa’s passion - she admits to correcting other people’s (sometimes even stranger’s!) grammar for as long as she can remember. It’s nice to work in a profession that feels like a hobby!
Like many of the teachers at SLA, Tessa is a product of the Sarasota County School System attending Venice Elementary, Laurel Nokomis Middle School, and Venice High School. She even attended some of these schools with other teachers at SLA! After graduating, Tessa eventually earned her B.S in Elementary Education and is pursuing advanced certifications in English 6-12 and Reading K-12.
Tessa has two daughters, ages 6 and 9, who certainly keep her busy! They always seem to be outside exploring, swimming, hiking, or just enjoying nature and the wonders of south Florida. When they’re not traipsing around, Tessa and the girls love to read. She has tried to instill in her daughters, and now her students, that reading is a vehicle for self-empowerment and a means to escape everyday monotony and rise above any difficulties life hands you. There’s a book, article, or how-to instructions for any situation! Tessa also loves sports, from football to baseball and local (go Venice Vikings!) to professional (go Rays!).
Tessa is looking forward to a successful school year with her class of 2018! |
