Volunteers

What counts as a volunteer hour?

1.    Students & Parent/Guardians-Attend a Parent Council meeting

2.    Students & Parent/Guardians-Any time that you give to help organize, set-up, break-down, run or clean-up for an SLA organized activity

3.    Parent/Guardians (only)-Monetary donations made to the school ($15.00 = 1 volunteer hour)

4.    Students & Parent/Guardians-Any donations of items that have been requested for an SLA class or other items on the donation list
(Every 15 dollars worth of items = 1 volunteer hour)

5.    Students (only)-Volunteer hours received by one of SLA’s pre-approved volunteer sites. (see below)

Parent and student hours have been revised, and are now as follows:

Students -
•    A minimum of 5 hours per month, starting in September and ending May 6th (40 total hours for the year)
•    Must be from the SLA volunteer sites list
•    Hours must be signed by the person in charge of the activity and include a phone number
•    For grading purposes, all hours must be turned in NO LATER than the 5th of the following month. EXAMPLE: September hours must be turned in on or before the 5th of October. If the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday, then the due date is extended to the next day that school resumes. Late hours can not be accepted.

Parent/Guardian - 10 hours per household per year - ALL hours must be directly for SLA

Your local library
Boys and Girls Club
Local Police or Fire Dept.
Local schools
Any animal rescue or shelter
4H
Toys For Tots
Any non profit group raising money for cancer research
Agape Flights
